What Viont is
Viont is a Chrome extension and web application that records your Google Meet calls, transcribes the audio, extracts action items and commitments, and sends you a summary via Telegram. Viont works only for the person who installs it — it does not operate as a bot visible to other meeting participants.
Recording consent — your responsibility
Viont captures audio from your own browser tab.
You are solely responsible for complying with the recording consent laws that apply in your jurisdiction and in the jurisdictions of other meeting participants.
As a guide:
- In most of the United States, only one party (you) needs to consent to a recording.
- In California, Florida, Illinois, and several other US states, all participants must be notified.
- In the European Union and United Kingdom, GDPR applies — explicit consent from all participants is required.
- When in doubt, inform participants at the start of the meeting that the call is being recorded.
By using Viont you confirm that you have obtained any required consents before recording any meeting.
What data we collect

What we never do
- We never use your audio, transcripts, or summaries to train AI models.
- We never sell or share your data with advertisers or third parties for marketing.
- We never store your raw audio — it is discarded immediately after transcription.
- We never access meetings you did not record yourself.
Third-party services
Viont uses the following third-party services to operate:
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your data at any time by contacting us. When you delete your account, all associated transcripts, summaries, reminders, and personal data are permanently removed within 30 days.
Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. API endpoints are protected by JWT authentication. Audio is never written to disk — it is streamed directly to the transcription API.
Children
Viont is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you via the email associated with your account or via a notice in the app at least 7 days before the change takes effect.
